]]>By flying in a “V” formation, geese add nearly 70% to their collective flying range vs. each bird flying separately. Also, when the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back in the formation and another goose takes over the lead position. Lastly, when a goose falls out of formation, two other geese follow it down and stay with it until it can fly again or it dies. Then the other geese find another formation to continue on with.
Maybe we can learn not only from kids, but from geese too!!
]]>Kids don’t usually have to have someone appoint a leader. Leaders are emergent in their groups, often with many leaders taking turns depending on what’s going on at the time. Don’t you wonder if businesses should select leaders the same way, at least for frontline teams?
